Iris Pixels & Pancake Productions
You may be a wee bit confused, asking yourself:
“Who are you…Iris Pictures, Iris Pixels or Pancake Productions…?”
Good question! Honestly, sometimes we get confused ourselves…
Here’s the story…
Iris Pictures
Once upon a time, there was Iris Pictures. And this was where it all began, Johanna and Mark finally living their dream, making motion pictures together on a deserted island together. Okay, maybe not deserted, but that sounds more romantic, doesn’t it — Blue Lagoon anyone?
After discovering their talents and strengths put together, like their marriage, was a good match, Jo also began offering other creative services, like graphic design, and it needed a new name. That was when Iris Pixels was born.
Iris Pixels
Iris Pixels it was for a good year or two. Then the pandemic hit. While rethinking everything (who wasn’t?!), Mark called out to Jo from the studio, “Pancake?” Jo thought Mark was suggesting a new name for the company (they’d been bouncing names back and forth on a text thread). So she responded: “Pancake Productions?”

He replied, “Yes! That’s it. But, please, could you also fry me up some pancakes too?” You see, Mark really just wanted pancakes. Jo often joked the only thing she could make is children (they have three), pancakes and pictures… Mark agreed it was a name he loved too. Because who doesn’t love pancakes, right?
Iris Pancakes
From then onward, Jo kept Iris Pixels for her solo projects — it always was a feminine name after all, named after her fiery Swedish Nana.
Iris Pixels is dedicated to supporting what we call in geeky film jargon the “female gaze”. So now, Iris Pixels tells “herstories” and supports girls and women.
And Pancake Productions has taken on its own life to move the entire community with both Mark and Jo collaborating together, happily ever after, especially when our work together brings smiles and support to our community.
